Local & Youth Development
Aside from week-to-week trainings and games, the Club is investing significant time in local and youth development. We see this as central to the Club's mission and future.
The Fighting Cocks view local player development as one of the core objectives of the Club. We seek to engage Myanmar people of all ages as much as possible, whether as players or supporters. Since establishment, the Club has had a number of Myanmar players on the team, as well as running clinics with local organisations to introduce kids to the game. We are fortunate to have significant funding from a variety of corporate and public sponsors in order to continue our local development work. In future our ultimate aim is to be able to field a completely locally-based team.
Auskick is for young children and beginners of Australian Rules football. Auskick in Myanmar is based on the Australian Auskick program and caters for children of all skill levels and from any sporting code. Our Auskick team targets kids from 4 to 13 years old. No experience is required as Auskick is not just about football but also about having fun, keeping fit and socialising with other children. Auskick is for adults too, not just as spectators, but as active participants and coaches for those so inclined.
While we start to grow the Club and the AusKick program, we will initially be holding clinics after all home and intra-club games at Star City, Thanlyin Township. At the moment this is intermittently. We will advertise when these will be and endeavour to get the word out there. Check back here for updates.
We are keen to develop this part of the Club and anyone who is interested in being involved in coaching/assisting (or would just like further info) is encouraged to contact the Club. Additional info about AusKick can also be found at www.aflauskick.com.au.
